WELCOME TO LASA... Greetings. We welcome the opportunity to share with you information regarding the Latin American Student Association and its activities. The Latin American Student Association (LASA) is a student organization whose primary goal is to cultivate and disseminate the diverse cultural and artistic manifestations of Latin American traditions and life such as dance, music, literature, culinary arts, film, painting, and regional costumes. LASA was founded on March 19, 2001 as a vehicle for the expression of the culture of Latin America and its European, African and indigenous influences as seen in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America. While these areas share a great deal of heritage and values, each has its own unique identity and richness. LASA is dedicated to the presentation of the culture and lore of each of these areas with the highest possible degree of authenticity. Also help students cultivate and promote an understanding of the Latin American culture and roots within the Duquesne community, establish ties with the local Latin American community in Pittsburgh, and serve as an avenue for those Duquesne students who wish to practice the Spanish language and create opportunities for international research and programs focused in Latin America are part of LASAs main goals.
